Heating system for carpentry shed
The carpentry workshop to heat is a shed 8000 m3 large in the Cremona district; it houses the edgebanding and gluing woodwork department with operating machines and vacuum units, where 18 degrees must be maintained.
To heat the workshop, the customer used an old hot-air generator fuelled with scrap wood which has to be manually switched on several hours in advance by an employee.
Since the customer was already working with a legally compliant heating system for carpentries, he was well aware of the high running costs and the difficulties in keeping his business efficient.
In addition, the wood log system in use did not allow him to maintain a constant temperature, resulting in an environment that was either too cold or too hot , not suitable for its production cycle.
Study and design for heating a big carpentry
During the inspection, the customer told us that he needed to heat his wood workshop with an automatic system that would guarantee uniform heat throughout the working day and, above all, improve the quality of work and reduce the running costs of his business..
The heating plant borders the wall of the hangar to be heated, and all it took was to install a fire damper and adapt the delivery plenum to the pre-existing hole, as shown to the customer and his installer through the sharing of a specific draft design.
Given the characteristics of the building and the required temperature, a 350kW condensing hot air heater with five stages of power modulation was chosen. It's able to quickly heat the carpentry to the required temperature.
Installation of hot air heater in accordance to the law in carpentry workshop
The installation of the heating system on the joinery was carried out in three sessions; in the first we removed the old heater and cleaned the room, in the second we made the necessary arrangements to connect the new heater and added new vents for internal heat distribution, and in the third we positioned, connected and started up the new unit.
The installation also includes a thermoregulation system with wireless receiver capable of keep the internal temperature homogeneous by varying the air power and flow rate according to different climatic conditions. The inflow of hot air is distributed using a horizontal duct where adjustable air vents are located to partition the airflow to each work area as desired.
The compartmentalized installation with air intake from the outside avoids any complication related to the sawdust in the carpentry and allows the heating of all activities with a high risk of fire , and thanks to the inflow of clean heated air, cold air infiltration due to room depression is avoided.
